Ubisoft confirms patch development for Vegas 2

Posted on March 25th, 2008 at 16:10 EDT

Today on the official community forums for Ubisoft, an employee confirmed that there is a patch in development in order to restore the "Private First Class unlocked" functionality.  Apparently, if gamers have a Rainbow Six Vegas (first one) save file, the extra experience you gain from that skyrockets you past the rank and therefore skips it entirely as an unlockable.

Ubisoft is also taking a look into the reported PlayStation 3 online issues that have shown up as of late.  They've also noted that this is more than likely a PS3 issue itself and have not given a date on when to expect a patch to fix it.  They did go on record saying that "the connection issues have not been known for as long and will require more in-depth research to establish what the issue is."

It's a nice gesture from Ubisoft to be acknowledging and cleaning up an issue that shipped with the game, but this begs to question whether online patches have caused developers to become lazy with their finished products.  As more and more games seem to require a patch down the road, it only makes you contemplate this question.  For now, we can be satisfied that the developers do what they can to rectify these issues; however, how much longer will it be justified?

Yeah, I'm sure the online problems are a "ps3 issue" despite Resistance and Warhawk able to do it properly without any problems.

Yeah blame the ps3 for the crap port. I'm sure the architecture of the Cell had EVERYTHING to do with network interfacing. RIIIIIIIIGHT I believe that when me shi7 turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert!

Great this should help out because RSV2 has been having the same issue that COD4 had when it first came online except now it's with connecting to a game, which still wastes time

I'm a bit confused how they can have problems when the first game didn't have connection issues. I've managed to play a few games online (I didn't have any connection issues the other day, after 3 days of not being about to connect to anything). Hopefully they can get the problems fixed.

i'm truly amazed that sony would let this defect in the ps3's system go unchecked for so long. how could sony build a system, to have all of them break down at the same time, once vegas 2 went online. lol, lol, lol, lol!!!!!! ubisoft your tech support team must really be idiots if they think that this problem has anything to do with the ps3 and not the half as? server they have running!

What garbage.  Ubisoft employees came into work on Monday to a storm of complaints about the inadequate server capabilities for RSV2.  To  say they have not heard much about the problem is complete hogwash.  Every single game I own with online functionality works fine on my PS3, and only RSV and RSV2 have had lingering problems.  I for one am wondering why the Xbox360 version of the game is bug free in online mode?  Is there some sort of bonus being paid out by Microsoft to game companies to give their versions a better debug before release than they give to the PS3?  It makes you wonder...

Online disconnect issues have been a problem since day one with PS3 games and only seems to be getting worse. Almost every game released now needs some sort of a patch (bad development and de-bugging).

Looks like I dodged another bullet here by NOT BUYING A PORT!  When are you guys going to learn?  Stop buying ports of other games.  If you are excited about an upcoming cross-platform game, and the 360 is the leadconsole on it, just forget about it, period.  My clan has gone through all the high profile military shooters on PS3, but I told them to skip RB6:V2 and they didn't listen (and now they blame Sony?!)  The first one was a crap port, but here's something no one's said...the UBISOFT port of Ghost Recon advanced Warfighter 2 was a LOT better...what's up with that?

I think developers are so into getting games released they fail on the final product and just patch it later.  This is the second iteration of RSV on the PS3 and both seem to have way more problems than it should have had.  After CoD4 and now this, I'm not so sure it's just a PS3 issue.

I had to revisit this thread to to state how I think that this may be a sign of things to come.  The game is not a commercial smash, so I'm sure they don't even think it's worth it to patch (or UPGRAGE THE SERVERS).  So is this how it's gonna be now?  When a dev wants to just "bowel-movement" out a cash seeking, half-done, half sequel and it has issues, it's just going to blame the console?  They basically said that they give up, and I can add them to the growing list of dev houses that I'm boycotting.

psn id: gingo.... i think third parties making online games for the ps3 should do a bit more QA to make sure it actually works without lag and server problems

Wow this is the saddest thread i've ever read. Ubisoft games have always had the worst glitches and least time put into fixing things. They have no curdisey for customers and are out for the money. Knowing this most of us still purchase their half assed games because they can still be enoyable. BUT NOT ONLY DO THEY DO THIS BUT THEY TRY TO BLAME PS3 WHICH TOOK ALMOST 5 YEARS TO DEVELOPE, IT HAS A CELL PROCESSER WHICH COMPUTERS DONT EVEN HAVE YET. PEOPLE ALMOST DIED ON STREETS WAITING FOR THIS PRODUCT AND THE INCAPIAABILITY RELIES IN THE PS3? I DONT THINK SO UBISOFT, YOU STUPID FUC|<S NEED TO GROW UP AND LEARN, NO ONE LIKES HALF AS$ED SHlT AND THEY CERTINLY DONT WANT TO BE LIED TO. YOU ALL SOUND LIKE YOUR TOO GOOD FOR PS3, AND IF YOU THINK SO CANCEL YOUR GAMES FOR PS3, NO ONE WANTS PS3 TO BE BLAMED FOR SOME HALF AS$ED SHlT THAT COSTS A WHOPPING $60.

P.S - I almost purchased this game, eventhough the online glitch, but after reading reviews I realized this will never be fixed, this game was made for profit only, its just another half /-ssed piece of sh1t made by ubisoft.
