Uncharted shown too early, says Naughty Dog

Posted on November 21st, 2007 at 04:33 EDT

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a wonderful game - no doubt about it. However, developer Naughty Dog thinks that they may have shown the game too early to the masses, making it the target of lasting criticism.

"We knew at the time that it [Uncharted] wasn't, you know, solid -- in particular the A.I. and the gunplay," said Evan Wells, Co-President of Naughty Dog.

"We put it out there hoping we'd get the benefit of the doubt that we still had seven months of production left and then of course, we got the feedback...and it was good feedback, and in some ways it was a great focus test for where we were headed."

We can't stress this enough - although there was some harsh feedback in the past, Naughty Dog listened and incorporated that feedback in their development, making Uncharted a better experience because of it.

Regardless, it seems that the company will be a little more secretive on their upcoming project, which is expected to be sequel to Uncharted.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is in stores now.

Yea this game is really enjoyable. Wish it was longer but the pacing is perfect. Whoever judges a game that is 7 months from release should try to design a game. Obviously it won't be perfect, that's why it's still in DEVELOPMENT.

I downloaded the game/demo from PSN two days ago. And from the looks of it the game looks nice. The surrounding enviroment and water effects looks awsome. It feels like you're IN the game. However, I really can't comment on the gameplay yet, haven't played enough of it yet.

This game is the greatest! I feel like I'm a character in a movie while playing this game. The voice acting is superb. The graphics are sweet. AI isn't that bad. I really don't know what they're talking about.

This is one game that is reason enough to own a PS3. I can't wait for the sequels!!!!! I was only sorry that I finished the game too quickly because I couldn't put it down!

lol @ everyones post.... yeah it seems i got mad at myself as well. I finished the game too fast because i couldn't put it down. The story is so compelling that your wondering what is going to happen next. The gun battles can be fustrating but if you've played Gears Of War,.. well then you will feel right at home. It took me roughly about 8 1/2 hours too beat. Wish it could have been longer but it seems the story was just enough to bring you in and not bore you at all. Great game and a definet  must buy for n e one who doesn't have it yet. I DEMAND A SEQUEL!!!!
