According to our source at Gamestop, starting March 5, EB Games and GameStop stores nationwide will begin taking reservations for God of War III.
With the release of God of War: Chains of Olympus on PSP, SCEA has given Gamestop the go ahead to begin taking preorders for the much anticipated God of War III. For those of you who have picked up your copy of Chains of Olympus today, you may have noticed the God of War III "Coming Soon" advertisement on the back of the game's instruction manual.
As of right now all that is confirmed is that God of War III will support 1080p and have both SIXAXIS and rumble functionality.
Stay tuned to PSU for more information, as tomorrow we should get an update on price and estimated release date.
Update: Beginning today, Gamestop and EB Games are taking pre-orders for God of War III. As of now they have the title listed to release March 2009 and for $59.99. Since Gamestop receives their release dates from their distributors, our guess is that SCEA plans to have God of War III ready sometime around Spring to Summer of 2009.

Wow. I didn't expect to hear about God of War 3 so soon, it would be cool if it could come out late 2008, but I'm thinking it might come out Q1 2009.
I'm not pre-ordering my copy until a few months away from the God of War 3's actual release because I want to get a Special Edition of the game if there is going to be one and I want to be sure that I pre-order the Special Edition and not the regular edition.
The developers obviously jumped on God of War 3 immediately after they finished God of War 2. Sometimes I think it's good for a sequel to a game to be released at least 3 years after the previous installment because it seems to build more anticipation to me, but if God of War 3 is locked and loaded and is ready to go, then they might as well release it. God of War 3 is going to be anticipated regardless because the ending of God of War 2 would leave anybody pumped up for God of War 3.
i wonder when they bare speculating a release for it?
i really need to buy GOW II....so i can catch up...too bad my GOW was stolen....bah!!
Good enough for me, i'll pick up God of War: Chains of Olympus and reserve my copy of God of War III.
Im going to pick up God of War: Chains of Olympus for PSP tommorow, i might see if my EB has started this reservation. God of War 3 will be insane especially Kratos in HD supporting 1080p! Maybe within in all this God of War news and the psp release, we will see a trailer soon. ?!?!?

I don't get the point of pre-ordering a game that we know nothing about. There is no doubt in my mind that it's going to be awesome, but what I mean is that we don't even know how far they are in production.

Like they didnt already start taking preorders just at the announcement of the game. You guys do understand Gamestop is one of the most opportunistic operations around, they dont know any more about a release date than we do, they're just GUESSING.

Gaystop is fully of crap. Its more than a year a wait and their taking you lousy $5 from you already.. I dont know but for Sony to put on the back of the manual "Coming Soon" and the game is more and a year away is going overboard or a major over statement.. As always I just let time take its course and things play out by themselve cause I dont like to set myself up for dissappointment..
