Don’t be alarmed if you find yourself blown up more than once simply because you’re caught unaware admiring the stunning view. Never has anyone seen such huge draw distances. When you take the power of a newer console to make something newer and better, using the hardware to accomplish things that have never been seen in the same generation is definitely no ordinary feat. What is more significant is when you take something very familiar, and you redesign it into something breath taking. Creating a newer, better adventure that lifts the souls and the minds of the players at hand. Warhawk doesn’t just let gamers experience something enjoyable it lets them live it.

Warhawk featured a significant focus upon a single player mode, with a multiplayer taste when it was announced nearly two years ago. Luckily, Incognito discovered that their multiplayer mode had the potential to break the mind’s imagination barrier for gamers. With this in mind, they made the game an online only thrill on the ground or in the air. In addition, they provided a number of extra features, such as the ability to host games yourself or throwing up a party with multiple players on one system. With all the stunning features, and the breath-taking atmosphere, Warhawk is undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable multiplayer experiences that are available on quite possibly any console. With its incredible depth and unbelievable gameplay, everyone should get ready to experience the thrill of aerial combat with hundreds of enemy fighters, and intense infantry combat in a massive, all-out war fought on both the ground and in the skies.
The customisation is definitely one of the key gems in Warhawk. On starting the game, you'll set up your appearance in battle for both your soldier and your Warhawk. To start the unbelievable fighting trek, you’ll have to choose one of two sides: the Eucadians or the Chernovans. The Eucadians appear to be more modern and amiable, while the Chernovans seem to be more towards the technological and darker side. The choice that you make between the two is cosmetic, and doesn't really have any impact upon the title whatsoever. The goal is to simply remember that you're enemy is anyone that doesn’t look like you, and you want to annihilate them, whether on ground or in the air.

You'll be pitted against 31 players across five different worlds, each of which can be sectioned into as large or as small a stage as you want for close, head bashing combat or an epic adventure. You'll take on your opponents in one of the four different gameplay modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Nodes play. Anyone who has played multiplayer games will know straight off the bat what Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch is, but there are some unique changes that add to the unique flavour of Warhawk. If you decide to play a Warhawk only game, you're engaging in only Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch, to where there is no purpose for Capture the Flag or Nodes play. Secondly, sprinkled across every map are myriad bases and checkpoints. Capturing these bases allows you to create a spawn point for anyone on your team, who can then warp to any checkpoint or base in that territory as long as it's in your control. It also generates new weapons, turrets and vehicles for you and your allies to use. So, next time you see yourself flying across a checkpoint that use to be empty and are blown up by a turret out of no where, feel free to go crazy on the base aspect.
In Nodes play, the bases play an integral part in the mode’s experience. Throughout, your entire goal is to capture bases and remain within the border of that territory, from which power emerges as a result of your troop presence. The more troops that you have in that area, the larger your team base becomes as you gain more points to win the game. If you manage to link together more than two nodes, you get a bonus on the number of points, as well as increase the number of weapons your team can use. As your team fights anxiously to repel invaders, it is necessary to make sure the ... (continued on next page)

Gave it 9.5. Would have rated it 10, but I get killed all the time and that's negative!
more like an 8.5, that is good for an online only in my opinion, this review seems a tad biased to me or the site is just the type to give a great score to something people find fun
I would give it 9.5 if it had more levels annd more weapons
not a 9.5 an 8 is more accurate. To be honest Im waiting for our 9+ game , Ive been waiting a year now...ALL I FREAKIN WANT IS ONE GAME TO LIVE UP TO THE BS HYPE SONY keeps putting out. so frustrated... especially since I played bioshock at a buddies house! where is our GOW and Bioshock?? I still believe in SONY but man make it happen already and quit hyping the mediocre games!! anyone else with me??
Well... GOW came out a year after the Xbox 360 had been out and Bioshock is a good two years. So if you wait for Uncharted then there is your first PS3 title and I am sure you will find your Bioshock in the next year. Actually Bioshock is coming to the PS3 in Spring so no need to worry about that.
Warhawk should be able to appease most PS3 owners' appetites until other big titles come out within the next few months. I can say that I'm really excited about Warhawk; I'll have to get the ball rolling and get myself a PS3 first.
no they said it is not coming out to the ps3 anymore
@NoUseMercenary- thank you for that perspective, your absolutly right, I do believe SONY will get there and are very close but man I thought they were gonna be there by now, Ill have to keep waiting and I didnt know that about BIoshock in the spring but am glad to hear it. As long as its at least as good as the Hexbox's version -unfortunatly so many cross platform games have not been....cough..Madden,TC Vegas, cough cough....
i agree with most of what the reviewer says, but my biggest complaint about the game is the length of time required in order to be up to par with the quality of players out there... As with most games with online play (well, all FPS and 3rd person shooters), your performance will suck (as in my case) unless you invest a massive number of hours in the game. Added to that, games like Warhawk have beta testers where they have already a 3-month advance in experience when the game ships out...
Instead of having the option to filter the servers with a minimum ranking to yours, Warhawk should have the opposite, meaning the option to filter the servers with ranking not higher than yours....
stonking, game...could have been better but as a first time game it's well worth the £20 it costs...should keep me amused for a few weeks...
what do the games highlighted in blue on the warhawk server mean? I found the answer: blue means SCE server is hosting the game, white is any PS3 user.
take some time to learn, great geme!!!9.5 in my opinion
jusdbuy it!
The blue names are Sony Servers. I think the game deserves it score, an excellent game.
I would give it a 8.5 needs more levels and weapons but I am almost positve that those will come as updates later on.
gave it a 9.5 i think killzone will deserve a 10 also i cant wait to buy this game on the weekend. I moving right now so my ps3 is packed up. waaaaa!
greate review !!!
psn id: gingo... great review and i agree with everything you said, this is a truly fantastic game that every online game should aspire to and with the inclusion of mesage box to talk to friends this would be a perfect 10. Talk to u on psn.
solid game but the the ground weapons are TERRIBLE! you can't even aim unless you have a sniper rifle! WTF??? there is no skill or talent in the ground weapons at all. the warhawks and tanks and jeeps are fine though. whoever designed the stupid aiming system should be fired. how can you beta a game and come away without changing that is beyond me! all the beta testers should not be allowed to own this game for not demanding the aiming system be changed. 3rd person is fine...just let me zoom or aim or something....don't just put a dot on the middle of the screen and have auto-aim! pointless i tell ya
i absolutely think this game is a 9.5 with it online multi player with split constant promotion awards and ribbons and lots of warfare what more could you ask for except for naked chics haha lol i have started a sick clan called CAASU if you would like to join up jjust add me as a friend my id is BELLYBOY33 and we will shoot it up ,,,,,,,,,,,the name stands for Canadian And American Soldier United
Very cool, but since it has no single-player I wont be picking this one up.. not all for online/multiplayer gaming.. so thats ashame but oh well, looks great.
This is game a killer app for Sonys online games. Fully entertaining. I really dont know what kind of killer game youall looking for. Bioshock is not an MS first party title either so it might come on the PS3 later on. Haze is coming and so is Unreal III.
there needs to be a arty system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problems can be fixed in a couple of seconds, through a patch.Anyways i have a question,If i'm playing on a single ps3 with my buds,in four player co-op.Will they have their own stats and what not?
i was not going to buy this game originally because it was online only. However, i decided to give it a try because it looked so incredible and i must say i am impressed with this game. it does not matter that it's only a multiplayer game. To me, if it's fun it's worht it and this game definitely is. Go pick it up today if you don't already have it.
i couldnt wait for the bluetooth retial so i downloaded it today, almost on a whim through the gayest am television id ever seen. and god damn this game does not dissapoint, sometimes its so involving your almost cant seem to function because so much is going down around you. probably the most amazing game i ever played.
I put it on after a quick game on graw2 and it was so rediculous how bad that game seemed - even though i like it. This is what the ps3 is all about. and its only just got started! yeah!!!!
The game is hot.. its a 10!!!! And F all you guys that like to babysit on the Canon's.. Ima get ya!!!!!!! :) :) Lol
9.5 it is ... and don't worry peeps more maps are on the way! This game is the Bomb! Never before have I seen such draw distance! Great Job!
Best online game i've ever played. Love it. My PSN username is Delta-Ops if you want to add me.
It sounds like a great game, gave it a 9.5!
I think the game is really great in terms of FUN gameplay, you know I find myself laughing even when I'm kickin A** and then all of a sudden BLAM! I finally get knocked off my perch! But, there are a few things that would have made it a little better. I won't rehash all the problems everyone else has already mentioned (And you all know what I mean!) but through patches here and there I'm sure they can make it perfect. What I wanted to know is, do you guys think they'll eventually have new downloadable content? Maps, vehicles etc? I can see a few things they could add in time. But overall definitely worth every penny (And I'm a SOCOM fanatic, I KNOW, I KNOW!)LOL. This game is fun where SOCOM and it's players are way more serious! This game is more laid back in that respect. Well, I've blabbered on long enough, take care all!
Just what this game deserves.
Hmmm was looking forward to this game, but If its sooo hard for a online noob I dont know...
Its a 10 for me, man mad online game of the year for sure.
funnest game out there for the ps3 so far :D great game only problem is ether finding an open server and the rankings keep getting reset :S
the halo-like split screen online must be cool,
but saving for NHL, Skate, an RockBand.
So i have no extra $
i can´t find any kind of interess in this online multiplayer games. old school offline still rules !!!
to ps3- the ultimate machine when u are doing spilt screen they get their own stats but it doesnt count because of the fact that they are using your name. if that makes sense.
This game is simply AWESOME. Total Fun. 9.5-10 easy
HUGE Reference Title for the PS3.
Damn this game is ADDICTING!!! Been going to bed late because of this (YAWN). Awsome game and extremely fun to play. Finally got my Jabra headset to work!! with the headset, it makes this game one better than it is, especially if you chat with ppl who are working together and not saying stupid things & making obnoxious noises. MUST HAVE 4 PS3!!!!!
I'm still on the fence on this game. I just can't wrap my head around the lack of single player.
Can anyone tell me why my jabra b/tooth headset works in one game then i go to another and its dead....anyone???
This game is an 8.0
No way is this a 9.0 that's reserved for games of God of War and the like. I'm being realistic and would have given it a 8.4 if it wasnt for the point system which is stupidly crafted.and as Mecha_Daddy has just pointed out we would have thought that single player playability has to be considered so I'm discounting my score to a 8.0.
this game is cool but i feel i got it too late everybody was a pro and stuff and i kept getting shot down in about 10 seconds after being airborne still good though
