The developer behind World In Conflict has said that they are “hell bent” on making the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the Real Time Strategy title as near identical to each other as possible.
Speaking with Videogamer.com, Vice President of Development Petter Sydow said that although developing the PS3 version has been more “challenging” than the Xbox 360 iteration, the team have committed themselves so that "gamers of either platform are going to have virtually identical experiences".
"Well, it hasn't been easy, but I think it's safe to say that we're tackling it pretty well! The PS3 version has been the more challenging platform of the two, but we've been hell-bent on giving both consoles the same content, and so far we're holding up to that ambition,” said Sydow.
“There are naturally some minor graphical differences, but overall, gamers of either platform are going to have virtually identical experiences."
He further added that the developers are hoping for a simultaneous worldwide release for the title, but said it's "too early to say if both the 360 version and the PS3 version will be released at the same time".
"Release dates have a tendency to be very fluid as unexpected things happen during development, so we'll keep on working and cross our fingers,” added Sydow.
World In Conflict is scheduled for release this fall.

World in Conflict Soviet Assault
well that means they'll never max one machine over the other.
That means the PS3 version is a port.
SAME? Oh sh**, another terrible port....
I think once PS3 system sales catch up to crashbox and suprass them dev will playing a diffrent tune and porting down to 3fixme.
psn id: gingo.... i hope sony do something with this and release an official bluetooth keyboard and mouse as a bundle with it if it is compatible with keyboard and mouse which is definitely should be
why identical, why not the ps3 version has more in the game n better graphics, since they not making the most out of the ps3 game will they still charge ps3 owners the full price for the game, think it should be cheaper then the 360 version if they cant be bothered with uz.
“There are naturally some minor graphical differences..."
oh god....fishy.....
that means the ps3 version is a port not from ground up. This is going to suck why do developers do that to us. We know that ps3 can handle more and has bluray which can hold more content dont they see that. I wont be buying this game
they can peddle their sucky port elseware. we want a game that is meaty enough to run on the ps3 only! save the kiddy games for the inferior consoles, i don't think i have to "X" plane which ones "Wii" are talking about.
Oh WOW! Want a medal for making a identical port from a less powerfull machine too our power hose of a console? SOD OFF!
Oh, man. This not-having-the-hardware-lead thing is going to haunt the PS3 for the rest of it's life. Like the original Xbox, it will never live up to its potential unless Sony makes a(nother) ground breaking game themselves.
So we'll never see a good PS3 port as long as they're keeping it at the level of the 360? Two completely different machines, right down to the media it uses.
For everyone tired of these S****Y ports, get used to it( I finally am). I have come to realize that this sort of thing will continue to exist for the lifespan of the console. The PS3 has had enough time on the market for this thing to have passed if it was just a short phase, but this is just the way developers are choosing to deal with Sony's choice of architecture. I guess the only reason I'm keeping my PS3 is LBP, MGS, FF13, and it's blu ray capability.
Not all X360/PS3 multiplats have been ports, CoD4 got great treatment for PS3, same seems to go for Bad Company; the demo is excellent, looks and plays really well.
At the same time companies tend to release bad ports (Quake Wars, F.E.A.R., Blacksite) but there seems to be a growing trend of first developing for PS3, then porting it to X360; this way the titles are almost identical and although these titles don't get the most out of either machine they are still very capable pixel pushers.
