Guitar Hero IV to provide "significant leap in innovation"

Posted on May 9th, 2008 at 04:45 EDT

Speaking during a call to investors yesterday, Activision’s Mike Griffith declared that the upcoming fourth instalment in the Guitar Hero franchise is to “provide a significant leap forward in innovation.”

Griffith’s commented: “For the holiday, we’ll provide a significant leap forward in innovation for Guitar Hero worldwide on all platforms including the PS3, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, and again on the DS.”

“We’ll provide more information detailing this specific innovation in a couple weeks.”

Griffith’s added that the company is pooling far greater resources into the project, such as acquiring new music licences, adding, “We’ve put a lot of additional development resources, a lot of additional music licenses resources, a lot of additional hardware supplier resources against the title to fuel growth over next year.”

“We’re excited by the increased musical content and innovation we’re bringing. We do expect a leap forward in innovation with our holiday launch, and we’re about two weeks away from providing very specific details on that,” he added.

Guitar Hero IV is due out later this year.

This "significant leap in innovation" is probably added drums and vocals. Lame.

Pop in a CD, rip a song, and it makes songs for each difficulty?  That would be crazy.

I really hope the hardware innovation is that we are able to use previous guitars and not having to spend 85 bux for the game and another damn guitar that only works with GH4.

could be like the power tour guitar when theres fret buttons going all along the neck and no strum bar..just my speculation/opinion

considering the last game looks like a Hidef PS2 game compared to Rock Band the first things they NEED to innovate on is new visuals. after that they need to provide a gameplay experience that's well balanced because past a certain point it's impossible to play unless you;re looking to play it so well that you can play it competitively for cash and prizes.

I hope they steal Rock Band's idea of the Drums and Microphone. But try to keep it at a reseanable price range. I don't want to see an exact Rock Band repluca.

@ vipergts2207

GHIV will not have drums in the game because MTV Games owns the patent to produce drum simulation games.

Better be better than GH3, it was such a pain to keep up with how many notes you hit, the gap was massive...Rock Band, so much better.
