Reggie Fils-Aime "intrigued" by LittleBigPlanet

Posted on October 29th, 2007 at 12:28 EDT

Nintendo of America President Reginald “Reggie” Files-Aime recently expressed interest in the forthcoming PlayStation 3 title LittleBigPlanet, suggesting the ambitious title should come to the Wii.

Fils-Aime was speaking to SFGate on what titles he feels would prove interesting on the Nintendo platform, immediately bringing up Sony’s LittleBigPlanet among others:

"I've been very intrigued with Little Big Planet”, he said, before adding, "I don't know that it belongs on their [Sony's] platform.”

Due for release in North America early next year, LittleBigPlanet allows users to construct their own personal space by utilizing a variety of characters to shape and manipulate the world around them to their liking. Players can do this on both an individual, cooperative or competitive basis.

The game has already stirred up a significant amount of hype since its unveiling earlier this year, with the BBC’s Darren Waters describing early impressions as “perhaps one of the most dazzling demos I've seen in the last 10 years.”

Stay tuned for more on LittleBigPlanet as it becomes available.

A.) I am intrigued to, so they should release the game already.

B.) This game cannot work on the Wii.  It would be very unique and fun, but graphics and sound wise, I dont see it happening.

C.) Its PS3 exclusive.

Thats good news, im just glad that sony is doing independent things overall since how alot of devs that port games and like for instance madden and other EA sports games how they would not try to improve the framerate it shows that other companies praise sony's ideas.

Sorry Reggie, but you just can't have this one! In the words of the PSP marketing, "Get your own." Reggie knows that Sony has a mega hit on its hands and seems somehow to be drinking the hater-aid by implying that Nintendo can only have content such as LBP on a nintedo system which isn't the case. One of thing Sony is good at is new IP's that pushes boundaries i.e. Echochrome, Flow, Singstar, etc...

"I don't know that it belongs on their [Sony's] platform.”  that right there sounds like someone is jealous. its not sony's fault that nintendo is not creative.

I would love nintendo to see this game on their platform as i'm both a sony and nintendo fanboy but he doesnt have to say it like that. I personally think that it would be good for the will as they have full motion control over the characters but it would also be good on ps3 as it is hd and the quality would look more stunning on the ps3 plus better online on ps3. It is really a 50/50 chance. P.S. Xbox 360 will die very soon so buy a ps3 now. Okay ba ba gee

Nintendo has a really good business plan going so far.  I'm sure they're starting to see some limitations in their hardware.  To have them admit some envy over one of our exclusives is no small compliment.

"I've been very intrigued with Little Big Planet”, he said, before adding, "I don't know that it belongs on their [Sony's] platform.”

I love this quote. It re-enforces what I have been saying all along. Sony has catered to a wide audience while nintendo has decided to focus their base. I am pretty sure using his logic, not only should LBP not be on sony's system but flow, calling all cars, ratchet and clank, Super puzzle fighters and others that don't fall into the needlessly violent/adult theme should be on a sony console.

umm...yeah...the little big planet and the wii...it could be done, however I dont think media molecule would be able to fully realize their vision on the wii, especially with the great graphics, the complex physics and all they got going.....actually Im frankly shocked Reggie would want a game that has so much potential be dumbed down for the Wii....and oh it would be dumbed down no doubt about it....sorry Reggie, nothing personal just being real, maybe he should get a PS3

LBP is being produced in the UK by a little company called Media Molecule who took LBP around to a few companies Nintendo and Microsoft included if rumours are to be believed. Only Sony saw the potential inthe game. I think Sony bank rolled them and they're getting the full support of Sony's studio's now and I'm sure that they've become a Sony owned team like Evolution Studio's amongst others. Nintendo said similar things about eye toy, singstar and buzz. Reality is the PS2 was the first family games machine, its just a shame Sony didn't realise this was the way to go. I read somewhere on a blog or other that if Sony had packaged the eye toy with the PS3 it'd have had more of an impact that the motion sensing sixaxis and I think they're right.

It would never work, Reggie you stupid tart. That kind of free form gameplay can only be done on a machine with enough power, and the Wii does not have that. Eat dirt you moron, your console sucks.

Of course its unique, what else are you expecting? If anything Sony saw what the Wii was doing and took it to that next level of making a truly interesting take with out of the ordinary games with this game.

It's exclusive Reggie so keep dreaming. Also if this was on wii it would not be hped as much, mainly because the wii has poor online and poor physics, and poor graphics and poor.... i could go all day. The ps3 is the reason why this game is so good.

I really love Nintendo to death and would love them to keep Sony on their toes.

I mean they're more creative than Microsoft and have way better franchises too.

Though I don't agree with Reggie here...it could work on the Wii if it had graphics close to the ps3's.

honestly, the wii controller is dumb, i bought it, just so i could see what all the hype around it was (biggest waste of money ever) and i feel like a damn retard playing the games, i bought it and a couple games, got bored of it in like 10 seconds and now its collecting dust...... honestly if LBP came to the wii, it wouldnt be fun at all. sony knows how to make a console and nintendo just likes making you look like a retard. LBP is perfect for the PS3! SONY4LIFE!
